SIBO Yogurt Recipe

The following recipe was inspired by Dr. William Davis, author of multiple health books. I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit to make it easier to make.

He calls it his famous “SIBO yogurt” as he claims it can eradicate SIBO whilst taking up to a half a cup of this yogurt everyday. He did a preliminary experience with some of his patients and the results seem promising, but it is still a bit too soon to tell. It is worth a shot just to keep your microbiome happy, as these strains are great to add in for basically anyone. 

The principle of this Homemade yogurt is to ferment for a longer period of time than store-bought yogurts and with specific strains we wish to add to our microbiome for their targeted health benefits.

Why not simply take the probiotics?

Because the strength of encapsulated probiotics is limited. By fermenting them, we increase their potency (CFU number, or Colony Forming Units) as well as their viability within our digestive tract. Once they ferment, their growth is exponential so instead of having 5 Billion CFUs per capsule you can get up to ~250* Billion CFUs per 1/2 cup serving of the yogurt! *Results vary but it is always at least 10x higher.

That makes a huge difference and can be a great way to save money as you don’t need to buy probiotics again - that’s right, you can simply continue making the yogurt with 2 tablespoons from the previous batch. This recipe is fairly easy to follow so, let’s get down to it!
